Summer Camp Descriptions

COUNSELORS IN TRAINING    June 9th       9 a.m. – 5:00    Cost: Free 

Open to youth entering 7th thru 12th grade in the fall 2010

CAUTION:  FUTURE LEADERS AT WORK AND PLAY Being a CIT is a challenging and highly rewarding experience.  All young adults entering 7th through 12 grade will be trained on safety, emergency procedures and upcoming new activities for summer camps as well as team building challenges.  CIT’s must bring a sack lunch, drink, swimsuit and towel.

TEEN OVERNIGHT    June 9th  5:00 -  June  10th  9 a.m.    Cost   $40.00   

Open to youth entering 7th – 12th grade in the fall 2010

This teen overnight will include team building activities, canoe trip down the Sandusky River, pitching a tent, building a campfire, night hike and socializing. Camp size limited.

 

HORSEBACK RIDING CAMP -   June 14th & June 15th     9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.    

Cost $60.00 

Open to youth entering 3RD Grade and older in fall 2010

At our beginners horse camp you will enjoy two days of learning about horse breeds, equipment, style of riding, basic care and the horse industry.  We will spend the afternoons at Sunset Farms.  Campers are to be at Misty Meadows at 9 a.m. and to be picked up at Sunset Farms at 4:30.  Campers to bring a sack lunch and drink.

Camp size is limited.     Instructor: Hope Schumacher Scheidler

 

HOOKED ON FISHING Camp   June 16th    Time:1 p.m. – 5 p.m.    Cost $10.00    Open to youth entering 1st grade through Adult

 Camper come spend an afternoon learning how to cast, tie fishing knots, understand baits, fish habitat and proper handling before heading to our river.  Camper can come alone or take this great opportunity for a child to bond with an adult while fishing.  Adults must posses a current fishing license in order to fish on the river.  Participants to bring sunscreen, bug spray, and sun glasses.    Camp size is limited.

BOYS AND GIRLS DAY CAMP – June 28, 29, 30 & July 1st   Time: 8:30 – 4:30   

Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. - Closing Camp Ceremony at 6:00 - Families invited to attend

Open to youth entering 1st – 6th grade in fall 2010             Cost: $65.

Mother Nature’s playground, Camp Misty Meadows is the perfect setting to stir up a child’s curiosity and wonderment of the great outdoors. Camp features 45-acres of land with woodland beauty with a pond for canoeing and swimming, a shallow stream perfect for “creek stomping”, an open meadow provides ample space for games and other activities, plus access to the river for fishing. Campers will participate in archery, climb a tree house, and make crafts and woodworking project as well as making new friends. And all this located just 3 minutes from downtown Fremont!  Campers are placed in grade-based groups with the same gender for the entire four days. Campers to bring sack lunch and drink, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and tennis shoes.  Parents and family are invited to attend the closing camp ceremony on Thursday July 1st at 6 p.m. at which time campers will be given awards earned at camp and will perform for the audience. Camp size limited.

JUST THE TWO OF US CAMP    July 8th    1:00 – 4:00 or 5:00 – 8:00             

Cost $20.00  

Our desire is for a special grandparent, parent or mentor and child to get away and make memories together by playing, being silly, encouraging each other on the rope bridge, laughing with (and at) each other in crazy games, relaxing on a swing, swimming, singing camp songs and making a craft.  Choose one of two sessions to attend.  Everyone please bring your swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen!

 SUPER HERO CAMP    July 13, 2010      Time: 9:00 – 4:30      Cost  $30.00      

Open to youth entering 1st – 4th grade in fall 2010

It’s a bird...it’s a plane... it’s superhero camp! If you could have any special powers, what would they be? Invent your own secret superhero identity, choose your superpower, and make your costume accessories. Design your secret lair, draw comics and comic book style art, and make up adventures with other young superheroes!  Bring your swimsuit, towel and packed sack lunch and drink.

 

GIRLS DAY CAMP  - July 19, 20, 21, 22   Time: 8:30 – 4:30  Cost  $65.00

Day camp is summer camp at its best.  For years, kids have been making great memories at summer camp while surrounded by newly made friends. Whether it’s learning to canoe, shooting a bull’s-eye, fishing or making a craft, each activity at camp is geared toward having a great time while encouraging the campers to learn about themselves.  Four days at camp and you’ll form friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Campers are placed in grade-based groups for the entire four days. ART IN NATURE     July 26th     Time: 9:00 – 4:30      Cost $  25.00                    Open to youth entering 1st – 6th grade in fall 2010

Back by Popular Demand – Art in nature Camp.  Campers will explore the outdoors and make unique craft items from items they discovered in nature.  Dress to get messy while you get your hands dirty! Bring your swimsuit, towel and packed sack lunch and drink.  Camp size is limited. Instructor: Kathleen Darr

MYSTERY CLUB CAMP – July 27th  Time: 9:00- 4:30   Cost $25.00                  Open to youth entering 1st – 6th grade in fall 2010

Strange things have been showing up at Camp…we need your help to figure it out!  Put on your “detective hat”, grab your spy glasses and join us for a day of identifying clues, swimming and solving the mystery. Bring your swimsuit, towel and packed sack lunch and drink.  Camp size limited. Instructor: Kathleen Darr

AUGUST ADVENTURE CAMP         August 2, 3, 4, 5th      Time: 9:00 – 4:30

Cost $25 a day or $85 for 4 days         Open to youth entering 1st -6th grade in fall 2010

August Adventure camp is designed to give campers a taste of all the fun activities that past specialty camps have offered plus a few new surprises.  Each day will be a different adventure! Water games, wilderness skills, exploring nature, crafts and swimming are just a few of the activities planned.  Bring your swimsuit, towel, packed sack lunch, drink and tennis shoes.  Camp size limited.   

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 For each day you attend camp – youth will need to bring the following:

 -A sack lunch, one that does not require refrigeration.

 - Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and bug spray.

 - Sweat shirts, jeans and old tennis shoes – for cool weather and exploring.

 -Sandals and flip flops are only to be worn to and from beach area.

 -$.75 if you wish to purchase pop

 -Water is available all day. Campers are encouraged to bring water bottles to fill.

 CAMPS are OPEN to all area youth!

You do NOT have to be a Camp Fire member to attend a camp!!
